| Mykonos, Greek island in the Aegean is a top tourist destination. Well known for its cosmopolitan atmosphere, windswept Mykonos is just 40 square miles of dry, rugged terrain. The best time to come to this gay and lesbian-friendly island is from April through September, to enjoy its open, sophisticated atmosphere. The attractive town has byzantine cobblestone alleys winding through cube-shaped restaurants, residences and boutiques. It is easy enough to navigate by foot. Walk around to discover beaches, quaint villages and red-domed churches. Mykonos has some twenty great spots for sunbathing and swimming, several with clothing optional choice. Many popular and well-maintained beaches are located on the southern coast, partially protected from the heavy winds. If you are a beach person don’t miss the opportunity to experience the Mykonos beach scene, particularly at Platis Gialos Beach. If on the other hand, you are more interested in history and archeology, then opt for an excursion to Delos. |
