Montego Bay or MoBay as Jamaican's popularly call this second largest city on the island has a tropical climate with average temperatures in mid 80s, round the year. An excellent pier and cruise terminal, two miles from downtown has taxis plying straight off the terminal. Downtown is a shopper’s dream with shops, boutiques, stores and a huge flea market.
Every kind of ocean activity has Montego Bay offering sailing, diving, snorkeling, para- sailing, water skiing, fishing and even banana boat rides. Go for them directly off the ship or through local tour operators at the wharf or downtown. Many tours take you to the interior of Jamaica to visit villages and jungles for sightseeing fun.
Unlimited beaches and all-inclusive clubs get folks indulging in the good times. Cruise tours offer excursions to Dolphin Head Mountains for Mayfield Falls. The mini-waterfalls and numerous pools here offer swimming, diving and enjoying Jacuzzi style massages. The amazing group of waterfalls makes for a wet and active tour. You could also do Black River & Y.S. Falls or Dunn's River Falls tours.
You may shop in Negril village or visit historic Rose Hall Great House. Best of all is Margaretville Restaurant Bar that is pure Jamaican fun. The unique bar-restaurant sets the standard for Caribbean party bars. The three story structure on the ocean is a daily scene of fun and frolic. With several bars it is the Jacuzzis on the third deck with a water slide catapulting down into the ocean that remains a big draw. |
