Lisbon is located a couple of miles inland from the mouth of the Tagus River. The main Alcántara cruise port is just beyond the high suspension bridge that crosses the estuary. There are two piers on the same finger of land - Cais de Alcántara, which is just inside the bridge and Cais da Rocha Conde de Óbidos, a short walk towards the east.
Both piers have terminals having shops and facilities along with many floating restaurants in the area. A third and newer terminal, Santa Apolónia is close to the Santa Apolónia railroad station in the historic district of Alfalma in central Lisbon. Praca do Comercio is Lisbon's trade square and centrally located waterfront area that cruise ships use as a shuttle bus drop off point.
The Mediterranean-style city has several quality sights and tourist attractions that are both traditional and modern. A great time can be had by seeing the underwater creatures and attractions at Lisbon Aquarium or Aquário Vasco da Gama. Enjoy the hands-on exhibits that make it so thrilling. Similar fun can be had at the Lisbon Oceanarium or Oceanário de Lisboa.
In summers passengers may enjoy recreational activities available or simply chill out by cruising along the River Tagus to enjoy sailing or windsurfing along the Costa do Estoril. Lisbon's shops and restaurants are also worth exploring, offering an array of exotic tastes and treasures. The Fonte Monumental remains the most stunning sight in Lisbon showcasing a fountain dating from the middle of the 20th century. |
