| Lahaina, a popular tourist destination on Maui, is the gateway to the famous Kaanapali and Kapalua beach resorts. Beach lovers will be thrilled to visit this old whaling village that is now a tourist Mecca for water-sports lovers, having a great shoreline for miles on either direction. Lahaina offers dry days with lots of sunshine as its located on the leeward side of West Maui Mountains, getting perfect warm weather. As a tender port ships anchor off-downtown Lahaina that is some distance to the tender wharf. You enter the harbor cutting through to make passage, while seeing surfers all around. The pier at the tender wharf is just in front of historic Pioneer Inn – a place for shop-o-holics with dozens of shops. Front Street, the main road continues for blocks along the ocean. There are numerous boutiques, shops, specialty stores, restaurants, fast food outlets and bars. The beaches are the key attraction with miles of crystal blue water and pure white sand. Without a doubt, Kaanapali Beach is one of the world's best. It’s a great place to snorkel right off the beach against the lava jutting into the water. It also offers a great dive spot. Sailing, fishing, diving, surfing and water skiing are wonderful water based activities. Local tour operators provide cruise tours to incredible spots. Take the catamaran to the Island of Lanai for an awesome experience. Visit Whaler's Village too. Flight-seeing over to Molokai's cliffs, Kalaupapa Peninsula or Mt. Haleakala's crater are great options. You can go to the small island of Molokini having a volcano barely reaching the surface of the ocean. Snorkeling in its submerged crater to enjoying shallow water viewing of huge variety of sea life in the middle of the ocean. |
