| Barcelona, capital city of Spain’s Catalonia region is an impressive cruise destination. Port Vell links directly to Las Ramblas; main Barcelona avenue packed with eateries and street entertainment. Half way along Las Ramblas is the Gran Teatre del Liceu, a gorgeous opera house. La Rambla ends at the Placa de Catalunya with thelarge plaza full of cafes and shops. Visit Cathedral of Santa Eulalia that’s a splendid example of early-European architecture. All terminals have taxi ranks and accessing the city is easy by public transport as well. Barcelona’s attractions may not be done in a day but the more famous sites like La Sagrada Familia Church, Barrio Gothic area and Picasso Museum are worth visiting. You could even head up to Montjuic for wonderful views of the whole city and surrounding scenery. Parc Guell is a fascinating town park with awesome landscaping and like-faux temples and mosaic seats. Montjuic 700 ft above Barcelona’s port is full of boutiques, galleries, cafes and museums. Barri Gotic the Gothic Quarter remains steeped in wonderful old-world atmosphere. |
